2009 Shoot - Anna Lind-Hansen

Hi All,

This shoot is one I did last year for the Vixen Management calendar, The Girls of Vixen 2010. The model was Anna Lind-Hansen, who some might remember from the 2006 season of Big Brother. She has also appeared in Ralph and Zoo on multiple occasions.

The first half of the shoot was a survivor/shipwreck theme we did for the calendar and then afterwards we took a couple of shots for the fun of it (I’ve separated the pics accordingly). The hair and make-up was done by Sheridyn Fisher and the styling was done by Sheri and myself.

The shoot took place at Nelson Bay and in spite of things; it was one of my favourite shoots thus far. I say in spite of things because it was one of the worst days to shoot weather wise than anything I’ve experienced so far. The wind was howling and the photos had to take place in between constant spells of rain, which wasn’t easy because the beach we were at was isolated and away from any shelter.

It was one of my favs because in spite of that all, we still managed to have fun with it. Anna is not only one of the nicest persons, she is an absolutely stunning woman in real life and one of the easiest models I’ve ever shot with, needing no direction and hitting each pose so easily. In all the time we shot in the cold wind and wet conditions, she never once complained and was 110% the whole time, a true professional in every sense.

She is also one of the lucky 3 people alive to hear Sheridyn belting out her shower rendition of Bobby Darin’s "Splish Splash".

I hope I’m lucky enough to work with Anna again and hope you guys like the pics as much as I do :)

NEW SHOOT - Emma Brown

Hi All

I wanted to post a NEW shoot I just did recently on my trip to Perth last month. I went on a trip to catch up with some family there and only had time to fit in one shoot, and did so with a friend of mine, Emma Brown.

Emma is a great person and an amazing model, she was a finalist a few years ago in the FHM Girl Next Door competition.

Being from Canberra and working mainly in NSW, I’ve never had the chance to do a sunset beach shoot before, and haven’t done the equivalent sunrise shoot yet. So this being the first trip I’ve done to the West Coast as a photographer, I only had one aim, and that was to do a sunset shoot. Emma loved the idea, in spite of having done some before over there, but unfortunately once we got there, the wind was howling and it was just unshootable (amazing scenically, but impossible to shoot).

Luckily we were able to have a plan B and shoot in a studio. The set up was simple but I wanted to give an almost sci-fi futuristic look to the set, an idea I’ve had for a while, but never had the studio set up to make possible. One of the things that will always happen, is no matter what you plan, generally the unplanned will look great, and this was certainly a case (at least I think so).

The last couple implied ones are my fav, I wanted to give a sense of loneliness and vulnerability with an environment that was simple yet gave the implication of being trapped, and I love how Emma captured it.

Hope you guys like the pics

Sheridyn Fisher 2010 Canberra Shoot

So I’ve been debating over which shoot to post for my first real entry and I decided on a shoot I did recently (and by that I mean earlier this year).

The shoot was one I did with my dear friend Sheridyn Fisher, if you’re going to be visiting this blog on a regular basis you’ll come to know Sheridyn very well. She is a great friend to me and the main reason I’m now doing what I’m doing. It was her that encouraged me to become a photographer and was even the subject of my first ever shoot.

Sheridyn is one of the most talented persons you’ll ever meet, having been modelling for years now, she is one of the best in front of the cameras in Australia. She is also the most creative person I know, adding her own distinct touches to all our photos together by doing her own styling as well as hair and make-up.

I think we make a great team when we work together, not only on our own shoots, but even when she comes on as MUA and stylist for shoots we do of other models.

This shoot in question was a quick one we did on her recent visit to Canberra, as usual Sheri did her own Hair & Make-up and we combined on Styling. Hope you guys like the pics.
